Assorted Mystery Snail (Pomacea bridgesii)

Mystery snails are a common breed of freshwater snail with some rather mysterious traits. Unlike many other species they are not hermaphrodites and have a distinct gender, they also crawl out of the water to lay their eggs and as a result do not breed wildly in a home aquarium. While adult sizes vary they can sometimes reach the size of a golf ball. These fish make a great addition to tanks as they can help keep surfaces clear of algae and detritus. While these snails can be compatible with a wide variety of fish care should be taken with larger or more aggressive species to make sure your fish will not harm the snails.
