Olive Nerite Snail (Vitta usnea)

Nerite snails are a species of small freshwater snail. Unlike other snails they cannot breed in freshwater so there's no concern of overpopulation in the tank. They are tidal snails and will frequently be found outside of the water and have thick shells that can protect them from curious fish, however they are unable to right themselves if turned upside down and will die if left this way. While this can turn away some hobbyists their utility as algae cleaners can make it worth the chore of having to occasionally flip them back over.
