Peacock eels are a gentle species of fish that gets its name from its eel like appearance and the spots on its tail. They are a shy species that may spend much of its time half buried in the substrate. They like tall plants with long leaves to hide amongst. They can grow quite large with some specimens reaching upwards on 12 inches though it is common for them to stay a bit smaller. Keep in mind larger individuals may eat smaller fish such as neon tetras. The main challenge with them comes from the fact that they are notoriously finnicky eaters and generally prefer to feed at night. Frozen Brine shrimp and bloodworms make a good option or small live ghost shrimp. Luckily, they can fast for few days at a time with minimal issue.
